CHAOS, International Research and Education Program, with its Scientific Director Professor Piero Dominici, is pleased and honored to officially announce a new and prestigious addition to its International Scientific Committee. A new member - once again - of great authority and international prominence, further extending our global network of study and research centers and scholars from all disciplinary fields.
He is Professor Vladimír Šucha, of whom we share a brief biographical note:
Prof. Vladimír Šucha has over 30 years of experience bridging scientific research and evidence-based policymaking. His expertise focuses on evidence-informed policy, innovation ecosystems, and the impact of technology on society and education. He is currently a visiting professor at the European University Institute in Florence, Italy.
Some of his key positions include: Head of European Commission Representation in Slovakia (until 2024), Senior Policy Advisor at UNESCO (2021), Advisor to the Prime Minister of Slovakia (2021), Director-General of the European Commission's Joint Research Centre (2012-2019), and Director of the European Commission's DG Education and Culture (2006-2012).
Academically, Prof. Šucha holds a Doctor of Science degree, is a Full Professor at Comenius University in Bratislava, and has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications. His recent works include "Humans and Societies in the Age of Artificial Intelligence" and "Science for Policy Handbook."
Throughout his career, Prof. Šucha has led major organizational transformations in several institutions, contributed to international AI ethics recommendations, and advised on education reform and innovation policy. He combines strong leadership skills with the ability to translate complex research into actionable policy recommendations.
He remains active in several professional organizations and scientific boards, utilizing his extensive experience and expertise to bridge the gap between scientific research and evidence-based policymaking.
